Peacocks and Peacock Accessories

I've mentioned peacocks here before.  As you can imagine, I was so excited when I saw this peacock on someone's gated front porch here in Philly.  They've got their newspaper in the body-basket.  Can you imagine how cool a great plant would look in there?!  Oh, peacock, they don't love you like I could.

Here are some other peacocks I've come across lately: an embroidery sampler bookmark from the Philadelphia Art Museum with a tiny peacock at the bottom; a purse and pillow from Anthropologie; and a vintage Japanese postcard.

On a recent trip to the craft store I couldn't resist picking up a couple fat quarters of this peacock inspired fabric (I couldn't find it on the bolt ... and I *looked*) and some peacock-colored sequins.

I've posted a some more architectural peacock pictures on my Flickr.

I understand your obsession with peacocks. We live in the country (sort of) and one farm has peacocks roaming around during the summer with the geese, goats, and ducks. It's so cool.

Oh my goodness!

I can not wait to see what you do with that fabric and those sequins.

Please don't forget to share pics of that, it's bound to rock harder than the images dancing in my head (like some funky acid flash back - had I ever taken acid but as still just as obsessed with crafts, sequins and the colour of the ones you chose!)

xoxo

word, honey.

Peacocks rock my world. Everything you posted? Fabulous.

I was at K mart the other day and saw a peacock iron plant ornament. ALMOST got it, but I needed to buy laundry detergent instead. *sigh*

The colors of their tails
Were like the leaves themselves
Turning in the wind,
In the twilight wind.
They swept over the room,
Just as they flew from the boughs of the hemlocks
Down to the ground.
I heard them cry -- the peacocks.
Was it a cry against the twilight
Or against the leaves themselves
Turning in the wind,
Turning as the flames
Turned in the fire,
Turning as the tails of the peacocks
Turned in the loud fire,
Loud as the hemlocks...

You just reminded me about some sheer peacock fabric that I have. I've got to dig it out now and do something creative with it.

I'm sure you know what a total goober I am on occasion. The gooberness reared it's head while reading your post.

I started reading it on Bloglines. And the link to your other posts there doesn't have the spaces in it, like this, "peacocksherebefore". I started reading it as one word and clicked on it thinking it was about ice cream. Does that make any sense whatsoever?! I believe I was thinking about sherbet. :-D

Now I'm in the mood for ice cream and to see peacocks. I think we'll go to the zoo. And have some ice cream.

I live not far from the Los Angeles Arboretum, where they have peacocks roaming the grounds. Sometimes they escape, and people who live in the nearby neighborhoods will find them wandering through their yards.

Weird. I just dreamed last night about the amazing popularity of peacocks in crafting and art, and I was loving it.
