Imagine me at 12 ...
I had my mom paint a huge rainbow coming out of a big fluffy cloud on the wall at the head of my bed. I spent my summer sitting on the front porch with my wood burning set. My favorite song was
Come On Eileen so I taped it off the radio onto a cassette tape. I collected interesting rocks from the driveway and gave them names like "Aristotle." I liked to sit on the floor of the library and surround myself with piles of out-dated home decorating books from the 60s and 70s.
This is the blanket 12-year-old me would have wanted, which is why I'm making it for
Vivi's Tricot du coeur charity blanket project. The pattern is from
220 More Crochet Stitches page 25, stitch I.39. I'm getting ready to add the border. The yarn is Red Heart, because it's the only brand at the store that came in every color of "happy."
She is accepting crochet, knit, and quilted blankets. They need to be postmarked on or before March 30, which gives you plenty of time to make the blanket the 12-year-old-you would have loved.
