Cute Softies With A Story
I recently came across Nichol's site
A Pillow Monster A Day. Not only does she make *amazing* softies, but she also writes the cutest, funniest, and most thoughtful stories for them.
This here is Billy Bob, a most exceptional bowler. Whenever he gets a strike he just smiles from ear to ear, he never does a fist pump or anything like that. When other people do well bowling, he high-fives them. That's the kind of guy *I* want to know!
Craft & Found
I guess I'm not the only one that doesn't like weaving in ends.
Craft & Found featured my rainbow blanket "bulldozing under the ends" technique/idea/laziness earlier this week. Thanks, Robyn!
I Miss Living In San FranciscoI just found out that
Britex Fabrics has mail-order fabric, and will actually send you swatches (for a fee). Britex is four floors of *amazing* in downtown San Francisco. I used to spend Saturday afternoon in there just touching fabric, buttons, trim, hologram vinyl ... you name it. In fact, I bought the shell button eyes for
Neville there.
Shouldn't It Be "Hemophilia Awareness Month?"Last night I got obsessed with finding the origin of "National Craft Month" (which I didn't really find ... Blaize?). The search-frenzy morphed into wondering what the heck is up with all these nationally recognized theme months. Didn't we just have a yarn month or something? Just so you know March is not only National Craft Month, but also:
* Cataract Awareness Month
* Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Awareness Month
* Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
* Deaf History Month
* Feminine Empowerment Month
* Foot Health Month
* Frozen Food Month
* Furniture Refinishing Month
* Gardening, Nature and Ecology Books Month
* Hemophilia Month
* Humorists Are Artists Month
* International Hamburger & Pickle Month
* Irish-American Heritage Month
* Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
* Music in Our Schools Month
* Middle School Month
* Mirth Month
* Noodle Month
* Nutrition Month (National, US)
* Peanut Month (National, US)
* Poison Prevention Awareness Month
* Professional Social Work Month
* Red Cross Month (American)
* Rosacea Awareness Month
* Youth Science Month - Canada
* Social Worker's Month (National)
* Talk with Your Teen about Sex Month
* Women's History Month (National US)
* Youth Art Month
As you can see, only a handful of them are designated as "National", but I think we've gone over the deep end here. But, that's not all! Right now, we're nearing the end of:
* Campfire Boys and Girls Birthday Week
* Chocolate Week (American)
* Inhalants & Poisons Awareness Week
* Poison Prevention Week
That's an interesting mix, isn't it? We could just consolidate it into "Inhaling Chocolate Birthday Cake Until We're Sick" week. What do you think? :)
I found all this on
Butler Webs. Use the "choose another month" dropdown to checkout what's in store for us for the rest of the year. Personally, I'm looking forward to celebrating my birthday knowing that it falls in Sarcastic Awareness Month and Wolf Awareness Week ... ha Ha! Grrrrrr!
