Man-cessories, Part 1

I'm always so excited when I get to make something for Andrew.  He doesn't need much, and certainly doesn't need the kinds of things I normally make.  So, last week, when I said I could make him a small case for his new digital camera and he said, "That would be great,"  I was so happy.

When I pulled out all of my manliest fabric for him to choose from, I figured he'd go with plain black.  He surprised me and picked the skull fabric left over from lining this tote.  The camera case is in two parts: (1) a lens cleaning cloth as the lining, and (2) and outer shell of skull fabric that has a flap and Velcro.  Super simple and non-bulky so he can easily slip it into a coat pocket or his back pack.

And he loves it! Yay!

Yay, indeed. I think that kittens and pretty flowers constitute "manly" designs, but then again I played with trucks and mud as a child, so my sense of "gender appropriateness" might be off.

I'm glad he likes it! My husband is so picky that I both love and dread making things for him. It's a pain, but when he uses something I make, it's awesome. That's a great idea to have the lens cloth as the lining!

That is such a cute shape!

I love that you used a lens cloth for the lining, such a good idea :)

I need to make a quilt for Mr M and I am a wee bit scared!

That's great!

I have a hard time making Man-cessories and there's always an element of guilt with me. I make so much "stuff" for other people and I rarely make anything for The Man. Even the guilt of never making anything for -me- is overridden by the guilt of being Man-cessories-less in my making.

I did make him a pocket-key holder for the Festive Season and a scarf, both of which he loves.

Now, if I can just get him to carry a camera ;)

Great work again, Futuregirl! :)

The camera case is great!! I am going to make one for myself.

The only time I made anything for my dh was on request. And it was not and easy task. lol. I would much rather sew for my dd, me and other people.

It's nice when a man lets you craft for him.

Such a good idea. I have a difficult time making crafts for my man but I could do a "cute" camera case! Love the fabric.

I love this! I'm dying to make something for my husband, but I don't even think skulls would make the cut. The lens cloth is a great idea.
