Wristlet For Aranya

When I was younger I had a pen pal (maybe more than one ... I can't remember).   It was always fun to imagine people a world away who knew my name. I think I found them through some weird ad in the back of a magazine like Tiger Beat.  Anyway, Aranya is the modern equivalent of a pen pal.  Andrew and Aranya crossed paths on IM and they've kept in touch for years.

Aranya lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand and works as a nurse.  She is such a sweetheart.  I once complemented the plush dog-shaped purse she was wearing in a vacation photo and she sent me one of my very own.  There is a zipper along the spine, so all your stuff is like the dog's guts.  His little feet are hilarious, too.  OK, words don't do the purse justice, so here's a middle-of-the-night bathroom photo.  Even the strap is plush!

This year for her birthday, Andrew commissioned a wristlet.  He picked out the color and style, and I think it turned out way cute.  The fabric zipper pull was a brilliant suggestion from MaryBlanca, who purchased my second wristlet.  I sent her a key fob made of a fabric strap to match her wristlet.  She emailed me to let me know she'd attached it to the zipper.  Now why didn't I think of that?!  The brown zipper is the first thing I've used from my Green Kitchen stash.

Also included in her birthday package was the elephant I made for her in January 2006.  Oh, goodness, was it really that long ago?  I didn't include the monkey ... the google eyes are just too goofy. How funny are those early blog photos?  They're making my eyes hurt. :)

Yes, early photos are not our best. I wonder if anyone has written about blogs improving photo taking skills or something like that. I know my sister has really taken off and developed a new interest.

The wristlet is great. Not so sure about the fuzzy dog, though. At least he doesn't eat recalled dog food. That's a bonus.

Can you tell I'm tired?

That is a great idea for the fabric zipper.

And ha ha ha, I liked your description of cheap carnival monkey.

Gosh, I just love your stuff. It's so clean looking, and just really well-done. I tell my husband about my crocheting, "eventually, I'll get that good (pointing to your photos)!"

The wristlet is wonderful!

Of course, that elephant is amazing too! I kind of wish there were all these great stuffies around when I was in the market for something more unusual than the usual stuffed animal fodder that was everywhere when I was a kid. These are the kind you keep forever.

Andrew's pen pal will love it!

The early photos may not be the best, but the cuteness of that elephant makes me what to puke. Puke, I tell you.

Hey, Nice wristlet!

Blogging is definately improving some skills of mine---though you can't really tell from looking at my blog! I have had a long way to go from barely using a computer at all to blogging. Messing with my myspace page taught me to cut and paste and post a link, then I got my blog and get a teensy bit more of a clue about it at a time, though I wish my page looked alot diferent. Need more time to mess with it. It's great, and fun! yeah for us having fun with having blogs!

Completely adorable. Reminds me of buttercups - too cute.
I used to get more excited about my pen-pal letters than I did about birthday cards, and those contained cash!

Oy. I'm, uh, still in the dreaded 'early blog photos' phase. Am I going to have to, like, do something about that? I thought you get some magic mojo that fixes it when you get to 100 posts or something. Right? No? Crap.
