Crafting Itinerary

This is going to be my first week using my fancy schedule.  I've got everything in there but I'll just talk about the crafting and errands today because laundry and cleaning don't require prioritized lists.  Here's how it's supposed to work.

1) I keep a prioritized list for each of the major groups of things I want to accomplish.  Everything goes on one of these lists:

· Etsy Crafting (Etsy, direct sales, etc.)
· Other Crafting (wholesale, gifts, etc.)
· Craft Research & Development (new patterns, experiments, sourcing, etc.)
· Website Maintenance and Updates
· Lunch Hour Errands (usually Walmart and/or Target)

2) I've scheduled each of those major areas for certain days.

M - Etsy
T - Etsy
W - Lunch Hour Errands / Web updates at home
T - Other Crafting
F - Other Crafting
S - List completed items on Etsy and work on Etsy Crafting
S - Research & Development

3) If I find myself with 10 spare minutes (even during my lunch hour), I know exactly how to use them.  These are the things at the top of my lists:

· Etsy: Commissioned wristlet for Ester, handbag for me
· Other Crafting: Handbags for Bitter Betty and Dustpan Alley
· Craft R&D: Illustrated Octopus Stuffie pattern to sell on website
· Website: Add Paper Clip stitch markers to tutorial page, page to sell Octopus Stuffie pattern

I don't have to finish any of those things this week.  The important part is that when I do have time, I'll know exactly what to work on.

I'll keep notes on how the system works for me this week and post the results next Monday.

In other crafty news, I've been getting lots of awesome stuff in the mail:

World's Most Awesome Pot Holder ™ from Angelina at Dustpan Alley.  She had a contest to see who got the crappiest present from a dude.  Being taken to see Marcel Marceau perform for my 29th birthday didn't win, but I love my consolation prize.

Kuky shared some awesome, soft, $1-yard fabric with me, because she's sweet like that.  Along with my package, I got the first of her gocco cards.  She made the face and thought balloon blank so she can fill them in as she uses them.  They are too cute!

Manuela from Macati sent me these great bookmarks.  The octopus has blue glitter eyes so he can peek out of the top of my books.  Thank you, Manuela!

I bought a gocco print from Jules' Etsy shop, Tummyache.  It was her first go with the gocco.  Totally check out the story of her and her Dad printing them.  I love the bonus post card she included, "Sorry I broke the cat Mum."

It's great that you've created a plan! I agree, it really is all about the spare ten minutes here and there - if you can capture them, a lot manages to get done.

You go girl! I'm amazed at your drive! I'll be checking in to see how your new schedule feels to you in the coming weeks. I tried to read the the Gocco w/Dad story, but the likn said forbidden. Now I really want to read it!!

I love a good schedule. But for me I think I will need to get my laundry and cleaning into lists. I always find time for my art and craft. Sure there isn't any sense in the way I go about it and it's just when the mood strikes me but it gets done. Cleaning and laundry though don't get the regular attention I would like. So a prioritized list it will be (which I've been telling myself for weeks and yet there is no sight of it). :)

I feel much better knowing you hadn't immediately started using your schedule. Truthfully you probably don't need one, simply by the fact you made one, prob means that you have an internal doer-clock. Me-self has an internal slacker-clock.
Octophrost's kin in looking good.
Is Marcel Marceau still alive?

Oh no! I missed that contest! I am sure I would have got mentioned at least:

My ex once crashed my car. On my birthday. And STILL didn't get me a gift.

I realise this is nor actually a gift, more like an anti-gift. Or possibly, THE anti-gift. Also, I was sick with a stomach parasite at the time, which ruined my holiday, and prevented me from sailing for three weks. This did not make things better.

Love your prize, though :)

Patrice - The link seems to be working now.

Kuky - I totally have the cleaning and laundry on the schedule, too. And I make sure I get it done first. Basically, Tuedsay is clean apartment, Friday is towels and sheets laundry. Sunday is clothing laundry. Monday is put away clean clothes.

Old Round - I totally need the schedule and the lists. I have about 15 handbags that are crochet ... but no labels, linings, etc. If I get a couple minutes, I crochet. Now that I have the prioritized lists, I know that I need to finish XYZ bag and it needs a label.

And, is Marcel Marceau still alive? After a quick web search, the answer appears to be, "Yes!" I'll refrain from all of the obvious mime jokes. I'll just say the boyfriend that took me fell asleep in the first 30 minutes. When I noticed we snuck out.

pendlerpiken - You totally would have been in the running with that non-gift. What a nightmare.

ambika - I should have gotten a close up of the octopus bookmark. The body is made from the pages of a phone book (I think ... it's not in English). I love it so much!

i love your organization skills. as a freelancer, i find that giving each day a specific task is a tremendous help--

my true nature is chaos, so i need the structure.
