My Stash Gained Ten Pounds

I used to be a big hoarder.  I saved anything and everything, you know, just in case.  Seven years ago we were in San Francisco and now we're in Philadelphia with several stops in between. In that time I've learned to declutter my life.  I've come to love having just what I need.

That kind of living doesn't create the atmosphere for stash building.  I've started collecting craft supplies here and there, but I could still fit all my stash-y supplies in a couple shoe boxes.

Although I don't plan to return to my old rat-packing ways, I do value a good stash.  A good stash can inspire you, help you out of a crafty jam, or give you something to trade for new supplies.  So when Michelle  from Green Kitchen offered to send some supplies my way, I jumped at the chance to enhance my little stash.

There is no way to describe the ten pounds of craft supplies that arrived at my door -- well, maybe "overwhelming."  That first night, I touched everything.

Almost every day since, I've picked out a section and scrutinized it again.  Every time, I discover something new. Today, I found this yellow velvet headband with daisies*.  I've been wearing it all day.  I'd already fallen in love with these yellow buttons.  I seriously want to carry the ones on the left around in my pocket like little lucky charms, but I'm afraid I'll loose them.

I've started the daunting task of uploading photos of everything to my Flickr account.  Partly to help me remember everything in it, partly so I can visit it from anywhere.

* The ribbon has a hook and eye sewn at each end and the daisies were hand sewn onto the ribbon.  It's so adorable.  I don't have a thing that matches it ... but I'm going to fix that. :)  I'm also planning on making some more.  I usually put my hair up in a bun with chopsticks to get it out of my face, but a headband does the same thing except it looks cute instead of harried.

"Harried." Ha ha ha. Oh, wait. It wasn't a pun. Nevermind.

What a cool little headband. Ten pounds?! WOW. That sounds so heavy. Heavier than when Isabelle was born!

And Alan just peeked over and read the header for your post. He asked me what's "Stash"? The name of a kid? I don't know why but it made me laugh so hard I just had to share.

I love, LOVE the headband, and you should just display the yellow buttons for a while, they are so cool. And I checked out your flickr; oh, man, that plaid trim! There's another great headband right there.

I live in a studio so I completely identify with the lack of clutter thing. All of my crafts are pretty confined to two containers and I often find myself needing more of some material because I never buy enough (eyeroll). It has it's advantages and disadvantages.

The buttons are gorgeous, love the headband--it does look lovely in your hair.

My stash has grown to fit the size of the storage in my house- it scares me to ever have to move it. I really need to focus on using it, but buying fabric is so much fun, and if it's from the thrift store it just won't be there the next time!

Yellow is such a happy color. I love the buttons. I have some pink vintage buttons that I keep in a jar in my office, as I'm writing I often look at them just for the pleasure of it.

Lucky you! I'm still having troubling getting past the "all my stashy things could fit it two shoeboxes"...very impressive!

The headband is perky and your hair is enviable, but those buttons on the left are really making me salivate. I just started designing digital scrapbook kits, and I would kill to find buttons like those for my kits! Love your blog.
