Handbag - 5 of 7

This bag was already finished when my mother-in-law made her order for seven bags.  I'd planned on listing it in my Etsy shop, but I ended up setting it aside for her.  Luckily, I have lots of the birdcage fabric, so I will be able to make plenty more for the shop.

The birdcage bags are the most popular ones, by far.  Everyone seems to love them.  I'm stunned by them, too.  They look exactly how I want them to look.  I love it when that happens.

I've tried to make a bunch of different bird shapes on the bags I've made.  I built up a little library of bird body templates.  This bow-legged cutie is one of my favorites.

It's the bird...that broke the camel's back...my silence. You're bags are gorgeous. Really special. Also timely for me to comment now that I think about it as DD No.2 came home with the school lice letter for the 2nd time this year. I'd vowed to myself that if I got 'em I was just going to shave my head. Then I read you're post about your shave and it ruined it all. Does it really itch a lot? Worse than lice?

Nice to meet you Old Round! Glad you came out of the woodwork because your blog looks great. I already added you to my bloglines.

Shaving your head bald with a razor is torture. Really torture. But using the clippers is cake. If you use the clippers with no attachement, you'll have almost-no-hair, but you won't have the razor burn and growing-in agony.

I say you shave DD's head ... ha! :)

I missed the shave post, sounds pretty interesting! How far back is it?

The birdcage one is the best because your birds really have a lot of personality.

Embroidering and then felt on crochet is a great idea + I think the fact that the bird is one the OUTSIDE of the cage speaks to the soul. Beautiful work! Melissa

Looks like you found a gap in the crafting world that needed to be filled with these bags. I agree with the other comments and would have to say they are all great! Had read the head shaving post before and it was pretty good....Made me laugh....

I somehow missed these. I *love* this. I can completely understand why these go first. It's not that flowers aren't beautiful in all of their stylized forms. But something about birds...I've seen them everywhere lately and though I can't articulate why, I am completely in on the obsession.
