Dune is not recommended

I read the Dune books in my teens and totally loved them.  But, even though Eno did some music for it, David Lynch directed it, Sting walks around in his underpants in it, Coop (Kyle MacLachlan) is it's lead actor, and Max von Sydow graces it with his presence, and Jean-Luc (Patrick Stewart) swaggers around in it, I just can't recommend the movie version of Dune.  Not even one tiny moment of it's THREE hours.  As quoted from the movie, "It is not Good.  It is bad."

While I don't care for horror films, I do tend to like sci fi films and for some weird reason I was thinking of this one recently and wondering how come I never saw it and thinking maybe I should rent it.

On second thought, after reading this review, I think I might avoid it.

I could always rent Blade Runner again if I need a sci-fi fix.

Want to know something sad and totally a sign of the times (the times being 1970)? My parents got my name (jessica) from the novel Dune, even though it first appeared in Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice. Ug.
